About

Mission Statement

Stein Yeshiva was founded by a group of people who recognized the need for a yeshiva ketana/bais yaakov type of school in Lower Westchester. Their vision was to combine a genuine Torah environment with an outstanding Jewish and secular education. There would be classes for toddlers through eighth grade, with boys and girls’ divisions in the elementary school. All of this while maintaining reasonable tuition rates. This remains our goal today.

The mission of Stein Yeshiva is to imbue our students with a love of Hashem, Torah, Eretz Yisroel, and Am Yisroel and to offer a high caliber secular and general education in a warm and loving environment. The Yeshiva believes that education is nothing less than the shaping of life itself. We work to develop the whole child, carefully guiding the development of middos tovos, good middos. Our goal is to educate Torah-true Jews who excel intellectually and as individuals in the modern world. This education begins in daycare and continues through early childhood to eighth grade.

Philosophy

Chartered by the State of New York Board of Regents since 1986, Stein Yeshiva is a makom Torah where Jewish families from all walks of life can feel welcome. Your child will never be just one in the crowd, because we care about each and every student. The yeshiva faculty work as a team to design the best educational program for each child and carefully monitor their progress to ensure that they are reaching their maximum potential. Such individualized care has lead to great personal and academic success with children advancing years beyond their grade level.

The great amount of personal attention the children receive has led to success of another kind. Our graduates feel a special attachment to the yeshiva and frequently come to visit the school, or contact the yeshiva and teachers just to keep up. Many return to volunteer or work in Camp Shemesh, our summer camp.

Many families find that Stein Yeshiva is more than a school. It is a place that not only children, but their parents can call home. Over the years, parents have taken the opportunity to learn individually with Rabbi Cherns and attend our adult education programs, thus developing a close relationship between the yeshiva and home.
